Get Involved

Stanford’s Haas Center for Public Service promotes educational equity in our local communities by engaging Stanford students and community youth in mentoring and tutoring relationships. Students can get involved via the following programs:

  • Ravenswood Reads connects Stanford students with elementary-age schoolchildren in meaningful one-on-one interactions that help develop language and literacy skills, often among students learning English as a second language.
  • Science in Service (SIS) connects Stanford students to youth in neighboring communities through science mentorship and after-school science programs, providing Stanford students a unique opportunity to learn about and participate in science outreach with third to fifth grade and high school students.
  • East Palo Alto Stanford Academy (EPASA) offers an exciting two-year opportunity for seventh- and eighth-grade students by promoting learning and ensuring a successful transition from middle to high school.
  • Preschool Counts gives Stanford undergraduates and master's students an opportunity to help children from East Palo Alto develop their math skills so they are prepared to succeed in elementary school.
